Futu (LI18)

[Location] On  the lateral side of the neck, 3cun from the Adam’s apple, between the sternal head and clavicular hea of m.sternocleidomastoideus.

[Needling and Moxibustion Method] Perpendicular insertion 0.5~0.8cun; moxibustion is applicable. It is not advisable to insert deeply to avoid the anteria carotis.

[Indications] cough, asthma, sore throat, sudden hoarseness of voise, goiter, scrofula; used in anesth. Operation on neck.

[Common compatibility]

(1) sore throat, sudden hoarseness of voise—-with Dazhui, Hegu.

(2) choke—-with Tiantu, Tianxi.

(3) used in anesth. Operation on neck—-with Yifeng.
