hydro acupuncture(acupoint injection, water-needling,) Manipulations

1,Selection of Points

Based on the differentiation of syndromes, select

1 ~ 4 relevant points or ashi points,or reactionary

masses as location for injection。

2,Manipulations

The medicated solution is drawn with a suitable injector and a syringe needle.

Disinfect the acupoint.

Inserted quickly to the subcutaneous region of an acupoint and pushed it slowly to a certain

depth.

When the needling sensation (such as sorenessand distention) is induced, the syringe needle is

withdrawn a little and the medicated solution is injected if there is no blood drawn into the

injector.

3, Angle and Depth of Insertion

l      In clinical treatment, the angle and depth of insertion mostly depends upon the location of the acupoints, the different require of affected tissues.

l      Shallow insertion is applicable to the needling of such areas as the head, face, chest and abdominal region as well as such patients as infants, people with delicate constitution, or the aged.

l      Deep insertion is applicable to the needling of the acupoints located on the limbs, waist and buttocks region as well as the young and the middle-aged with strong constitution and heavy body.

4,Dosage of Injection

Location         Dosage

l      auricular point  0.1ml

l      head and face  0.3─0.5ml

l      chest and back   0.5─1.0ml

l      four limbs        1─2ml

l      waist and buttocks   2─5ml

5,Course of treatment

Acupoint injection is applied once or twice daily for acute disease; and once daily or every other day for chronic disease, the points on both sides can be alternatively treated.

One course consists of 10 sessions of treatment. Duration between two courses is one week.
